Departing from the Wairakei Resort, after 2km, you will encounter your first tunnel lit up lights. 

Next up is a bit of a lung buster/calf strainer uphill to the Craters of the Moon Geothermal Boardwalk, but don’t worry, we have an Aid Station here with water, electrolyte drink and loads of lollies.

The Board Walk section is a real treat and involves 2km of lunar type geography full of hot steam rising from the ground.

Exiting the board walk, you can grab another drink, before you are homeward bound on the section through Craters Mountain Bike Park which initially involves a downhill, an uphill and a final downhill descent into the Wairakei Resort. 

Burst through the final tunnel, experience the lights and cranking music and you have completed your big night out.
