Important Event Information
We can not wait to host you on Saturday 15th June for the Ledlenser Possum Night Trail Run! Here is some information that will be helpful to ensure that you have a fantastic time so please make sure you read it all!
COMPULSORY GEAR
Please make sure you keep up to date with the weather and dress appropriately. The compulsory gear, which is the minimum requirement, is as follows:
5km event – Headlamp or torch.
12km event – Headlamp, second headlamp or torch and long sleeved thermal top.
21km event – Headlamp, second headlamp or torch long sleeved thermal top and a waterproof/windproof jacket.
* The compulsory items must be worn or carried by you during the event.
* If cold and/or wet we strongly recommend that all participants wear a thermal long sleeved top and either wear or carry a waterproof / windproof jacket.
PARKING
Parking for the event will be available behind the Wairakei BP, please follow the signs and the marshals and drive with care. Please use the golf course tunnel to get to and from the event and DO NOT CROSS WAIRAKEI DRIVE ON FOOT. If you are calling in to register then leaving then you may park at the Wairakei Resort for 15 minutes maximum – follow the signs saying SHORT TERM PARKING.
REGISTRATION
Registration will take place on Saturday 15 June at Wairakei Resort Taupo from 1pm – 5pm sharp. Please do not leave it to the last minute to come in to pick up your race bib as if you are later than 5pm you may be unable to take part.
CHANGE OF DISTANCE
If you need to change your distance this will need to be done at Registration. Please collect your race bib and then bring this with you to the Changes/Late Entries desk. If you would like to change to a longer distance you will have to pay the difference in entry fee. This will only be available if we have not met category capacity.
YOUR RACE BIBS – IS YOUR’S ONLY!
Under NO circumstance are you permitted to give your bib to another person. The safety of our entrants is paramount, therefore we need to ensure we have correct details of all our entrants on course. Anyone caught running with someone else’s bib will be disqualified and will not be able to participate.
SAFETY
Please familiarise yourself with our safety page, it is important that you read this before coming to the event to keep yourself and others safe.
DROP BAGS
A drop bag service will be available at Wairakei Resort. You will be given a sticker with your race bib at registration, please attach this to your bag and give it to the Drop Bag Crew in the registration area.
WE ARE A CUPLESS EVENT
We supply electrolyte and water at all of the aid stations and water at the finish line, BUT WE DO NOT SUPPLY CUPS. So you need to make sure that you bring a flexible cup, water bottle or hydration packs if you want to get access to the fluids.
Flexible cups and hydration packs will be available to buy at the event expo.
EXPO
This year we are lucky enough to have some amazing sponsors who will be selling some wonderful products with great event deals so make sure you bring some cash or your credit card.

RACE BRIEFINGS AND START PROCEDURE
Race briefings will take place on the start line, make sure you are listening! Ther 21km event will be a mass start. The 12km and 5km event will start in waves of 100 people every 3 minutes. Please self seed in the waves starting with fast runners in wave one and finishing with walkers in the final wave.
LIGHT THE NIGHT COMPETITION
We are looking for the brightest group and individuals! Put on your brightest clothing or costume and your headlamp and any other lights that you can lay your hands on to be into win! You will need to display your outfit on the start line two minutes before your race start to be in to win some great prizes from our sponsors. The brightest individual/group will win a Ledlenser headlamp or goodr glasses.
WITHDRAWING FROM EVENT
If you need to withdraw during the race you MUST tell a marshal or someone on the Event Team or phone or text the phone number on the back of your race bib. At the end of the event we need to know that everyone is back so save yourself a late night phone call!
FOOD AND DRINK
We will have five amazing food trucks lined up serving hot and tasty meals and hot and cold beverages from 5pm to 9pm. Wairakei Resort Taupo will have their bar open for beverages also. Come enjoy dinner at the event.
